B2B Email Marketing Best Practices
B2B Email Marketing Tips
The internet has made marketing easier and convenient for businesses. People can now just send e-mails instead of going around from one office to another. However, it also makes marketing a challenge. With the deluge of mails that executives receive everyday, one needs to have a strategy to make his standout.
Internet technology has revolutionized the way people do everything, including how to do business. Now, it is already possible to do marketing without doing rounds. Business people can just sit in the office while trying to promote the business all over the world. All they need to do is create email marketing and send it to target customers.
But while the Internet has made marketing faster, cost-effective and less exhausting, it has its disadvantages. One being that people can easily ignore it. It is different from visiting a prospective business partner, for instance, and talking to him face to face. The person could not just dismiss you as easily. That is why you need to make strategies to make you interested and riveted on your email. Here are some:
- Put the interest of your target readers first. It is among the oldest adage: people are interested only on what will benefit them. Therefore, carefully word your e-mail in such a way that most of the information it contained are helpful or potentially helpful to the other business. As a sender, your concern should seem to stay aside.
- Be straightforward. Business people are busy people. Executives need to maximize their time between tasks. They do not have the time to read every email that comes their way. So, in order for your mail to get their attention it should be short, direct, clear and specific in what it wants. Being specific is the most important among them. It should state what particular course of action it expects from the reader.
- Use additional features wisely. In your email, you may have a link to your landing page or graphics. Depending on your audience, it is always prudent to use images sparingly as this could create problems to the recipient. Large images are heavy and could slow down the recipient’s computer – which is irritating to any normal person and irritating to a higher degree to a busy professional. Or, the image may contain important data that could be lost due to incompatibility issues.
- Observe proper timing. Many executives are now using their mobile phones to receive e-mails. If you send your e-mails in the middle of a weekday when they were at their busiest time, your e-mail could just easily land into the trash. Weekends are usually the time when they are at a relax mood.
- Make your email standout. Starting from the “From” line, your e-mail must give the impression that is very important. In the “From” line, sign on the name of someone who is Someone in your company.
